On Easter Sunday, the 37th Easter breakfast was held at Barka HQ in Poznań, to which the lonely, poor, homeless people and refugees were invited. This time the Easter breakfast meant more for us than just a shared meal – it was a moment of sharing not only bread, but also testimonies, presence and being together.

At the festively laid tables, there was no shortage of traditional dishes – sour rye soup, bigos, salads, sausages, stuffed eggs, cold cuts, bread and cakes – but it was also the conversations and closeness of being with others, the fact that we created a community, that were most important. The singing together of Easter songs complemented this exceptional atmosphere.

It is exactly such meetings that create a space in which something exceptional is being established from the threads of different life stories – a community. Every word, smile, look is like a thread that connects, intertwines, weaves something lasting.

Equally important was the otherness of our guests – openness to another person, to their differences, experience and sensitivity. Thanks to that we could experience this day as one organism – diverse, but united in love and acceptance.
