On Sunday, December 14th, Barka UK participated in the “Everyday Heroes Gala,” organised at the White Eagle Club in Balham, London.

The Gala was attended by representatives of the Polish Embassy in London, the Polish Consulate, the Honorary Consul, and numerous representatives of Polish diaspora organisations.
Barka UK was invited to participate in a panel discussion, whose guests included: a Polish firefighter in London involved in helping Polish community every day; a priest from a Polish parish in Balham; a representative of three siblings who organised a fundraising campaign and cycled from England to Poland to raise funds to help flood victims in Poland; a Polish man from Scotland who overcame homelessness and addiction is now selflessly helps others in similar situations.

The panelists sought to answer the question: what is heroism in today’s world? How does it manifest itself?
They also shared their personal reflections on helping others.
CEO of Barka UK, Ewa Sadowska who participated in the panel, addressed various aspects of Barka’s daily activities, the work of Barka leaders, creating conditions for the organisation’s development, testimonies from leaders, and the story of beginnings of Barka in Poland.

Barka UK participation on the panel was met with huge interest from the audience, especially in terms of volunteering for Barka in London.
