Barka UK meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw – 12th of February 2025

On 12th of February, an important meeting of the Barka Foundation took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw with representatives of the Barka network abroad – Ewa Sadowska from the United Kingdom (Barka UK) and Daria Ceplin (Stiching Barka) from The Netherlands.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Department of Cooperation with the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad, headed by Director Anna Sochańska and Deputy Director, Beata Prądzyńska. Mr. Jakub Wilczek, Head of the National Federation for Solving the Problem of Homelessness also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, Ewa and Daria talked about the support system for Polish citizens who are in the most difficult social and economic situations abroad. This system has been implemented since 2007 by foreign branches of BARKA in the countries of the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

This is just the first step in long-term cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Poland, Barka Foundation in Poland and its international network abroad. The goal of the cooperation is to jointly assess the situation and develop specific solutions for Poles who have found themselves in crisis abroad.

The meeting at the Ministry took place after Barka representatives in the UK and the Netherlands developed – at the request of the National Federation for Solving the Problem of Homelessness – an opinion on the Government Strategy for Cooperation with the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad for the years 2025-2030.
